GTM Tools Product Marketing Free Resources Working Backwards

Product marketing is one of those disciplines where the frameworks exist, the methodologies are documented, and the best practitioners have been quietly refining their approach for years. But a lot of that accumulated knowledge stays inside companies, inside project folders, or inside someone's head.

I've spent the past 15+ years launching products across cloud service offerings, security services, MSP programs, SaaS platforms, and managed AI/ML services. Along the way I've built checklists, stage-gate decks, GTM templates, and tracking tools — most of them adapted from whatever the previous team was using and never quite generalized enough to outlast the launch they were built for.

This year I decided to change that. I've been building a set of resources that synthesize the best of those frameworks — combined with research into Amazon's Working Backwards process, AWS's product strategy guidance, MVP development principles, and Gartner's GTM methodology — into tools that any product marketer can actually use. And I'm making them available free on CloudScale Advisory, with no forms and no email gates.

These resources are intended for product marketing leaders, PMMs, partner marketing managers, and GTM teams at B2B tech and cloud companies. If any of this is useful, share it with your team. If you have ideas for what's missing, I'd genuinely like to hear them.

What's available now

The Resources section launches with three tools. Here's a closer look at each one.

GTM Launch Readiness Tool
Interactive Tool
GTM Launch Readiness Tool screenshot showing phase scoring, go/no-go verdict, and readiness bar chart

This is the flagship tool — an interactive, browser-based GTM readiness scorecard that tracks completion across 7 launch phases and gives you a real-time go/no-go signal. Mark tasks complete, and the tool auto-calculates a weighted readiness score, flags gate blockers that override the overall score regardless of percentage, and surfaces the most critical open items in a risk panel.

The tool has a launch-type toggle: set it to MVP and the task list right-sizes itself for a lean, feedback-first launch. Set it to full product launch and the complete GTM motion comes into scope. Gate items — like legal sign-off, QA completion, and infrastructure readiness — block the go signal until they're done, so teams can't hide a critical miss behind a high overall score.

What's behind it: Phase 0 is built on Amazon's Working Backwards PR/FAQ process, including an assumptions ledger and a problem-first sanity check. Phases 1 through 6 draw on AWS product strategy guidance, Gartner's GTM checklist, Product School, MVP development principles, and 15+ years of launch experience. The whole thing was built using Claude Code.

Product Launch Master Checklist
Excel Download
Product Launch Master Checklist showing Excel tabs for each phase with gate items highlighted

A comprehensive, phase-gated Excel checklist that mirrors the structure of the GTM Readiness Tool — covering all seven phases from Working Backwards through post-launch retrospective. It's built to be reused across launches, not rebuilt for each one.

Every task row includes a description, due date, status, owner, reference link, and signature field. Gate items are explicitly marked. Phase 0 is structured around the Amazon PR/FAQ process, with tabs for the assumptions ledger and MVP decision gate. The cover sheet lists all five methodology sources and includes a project info block for the launch name, date, type, and owner.

What makes it different from most checklists: it explicitly distinguishes between MVP and full launch scope, carries the Working Backwards thread throughout (positioning must trace to the PR/FAQ, sales training must reflect the customer story), and includes a Decision Log tab for tracking key decisions and rationale across the full launch cycle.

AI Tools for PMM & Partner Marketing
Reference Table
AI Tools reference table showing 46 tools across 14 categories with filter bar and tool cards

An interactive reference covering 46 AI-powered tools across 14 categories for B2B product marketing and partner marketing teams in cloud and SaaS. Every tool entry includes a description, a specific PMM or partner marketing use case, and notable differentiators or pricing signals.

Categories span competitive intelligence (Klue, Crayon, Clozd, AlphaSense), partner management PRM (Impartner, Introw, PartnerStack), ecosystem and co-sell (Crossbeam, Tackle.io, WorkSpan), ABM and intent data (6sense, Demandbase, Bombora), content and copy AI (NotebookLM, Claude, Jasper, Perplexity), AEO/AI visibility (Profound, Semrush, Otterly), video AI (Loom AI, Synthesia, Canva AI), and more.

Why I built it: Most tool lists for marketers are either too generic or too focused on one category. This one is specifically built for the PMM and partner marketing workflow in a B2B cloud and SaaS context — the stack you'd actually use to run a product launch, a co-marketing program, or a competitive intelligence system. The companion blog post goes deeper on how the AI-native operating model changes the way PMMs actually work, not just the tools they use.

Where these came from

All three resources share a common origin. Over the course of 15+ years of product launches — at Datapipe, Rackspace, Effectual, Centrilogic, and through CloudScale Advisory — I built and collected launch checklists, GTM templates, stage-gate decks, and tool reference guides. Useful in the moment, but rarely built to generalize beyond the project they were created for.

Building this suite was an exercise in finally doing that generalization properly — pulling the pieces that consistently proved useful and pairing them with research into the external frameworks that explain why those pieces matter. The synthesis draws from five sources:

15+ years of practitioner experience Amazon Working Backwards / PR/FAQ AWS Prescriptive Guidance MVP Development Framework Gartner & Product School

The Working Backwards piece was the most significant addition. The checklists I'd used before were strong on GTM execution but assumed the customer story and positioning were already settled by the time launch planning started. In practice, that's often exactly where things were weakest — which is why Phase 0 of the GTM tool and checklist now exists as a hard prerequisite gate before anything else proceeds.

The AI tools table came from a different starting point — a question I keep getting asked in senior PMM conversations: can you show me your actual AI stack and how it changes the way you work? The 46-tool reference is my answer to that question, mapped to real PMM and partner marketing workflows rather than generic marketing use cases.

More to come — and I'd like your input

These three are the start, not the complete picture. The resources section is designed to grow over time, and a few things are already in the works.

But more than what I'm planning, I'm interested in what would actually be useful to the PMM and partner marketing community. Some questions I'm thinking about:

These resources are free and intended to be shared

If you find any of them useful, share them with a colleague or your team. If something doesn't work the way you'd expect it to, or if you have ideas for what to build next, reach out directly — I'd genuinely welcome the conversation.

The goal is to build a library that reflects how senior PMMs and partner marketers actually work, not just how the frameworks say they should. That requires input from people doing the work. If that's you, let's talk.
